University of York

University of York was founded in 1963 with 230 students. Since then, it has expanded to 13,000 students and has over 30 academic departments and research centres. The University has a collegiate system in which most staff and all students are members of colleges.

From its inception, the University has concentrated on strong viable departments of the highest quality. In less than 50 years, York has become one of the top ten universities in the UK for teaching and research – and is ranked in the top 100 universities in the world.
