Since 1974, the University of Washington has led the nation’s public universities in competing for federal research and training grants. In 2007, the most recent year that comparative information is available from the National Science Foundation, the UW was first among public and second among all universities, public and private, in federal research awards.
The UW is honored to have some of the greatest researchers in the world on faculty. Five UW faculty members have received Nobel Awards since 1989.
