What is the Research Mobility Programme, RMP?

The Research Mobility Programme (RMP) funds a period of overseas study for postgraduates and faculty to establish and cultivate research links, at an institutional and individual level, between WUN partners in Europe, the US and China. The Scheme encourages the personal and academic development of individuals early in their research careers.

The Programme continues to elicit high-quality applications and enthusiasm from academic faculty and graduate students with approximately 650 awards being made across the WUN partnership since the programme began in 2002.

The objectives of the RMP are to:

provide an opportunity for students to experience research/education in another country and to develop their own networks, skills and research interests
enhance research training by sharing good practice across the partnership
create new funding opportunities for studentships/assistantships and other career development positions through collaborative bids to public funding organisations, foundations and private sector partners
facilitate sharing of material and expertise to enhance graduate training
increase the number and quality of applications for graduate programmes, and increase the employability of graduate students through graduate student exchange and structured work placements with corporate partners
create multidisciplinary research teams through fostering interactions between complementary areas
create opportunities for career development through by internships/placements in international, industrial, national laboratories or agencies.
