Plant Systems
The Plant Systems Research Network provides the opportunity for multidisciplinary research toward advancing our understanding of plant function in a changing environment. Programs within the network seek to develop tools for use at a range of scales to meet the challenges of global agricultural productivity and conservation.
The effects of global change and increasing human population present major challenges to agricultural and natural systems. Increasing demand for food and fibre emphasises our need to improve the efficiency of managed systems whilst for conservation, a better understanding of plant processes that underpin ecosystem health is vital for long term sustainable management.
The Plant Systems Research Network seeks to meet these challenges through a combination of basic and applied research programs, education and advocacy. The Network involves projects across a range of expertise from using frontier technologies for the study of plant systems, through to field-based outcomes for land management.
