Understanding Cultures
The WUN Understanding Cultures Global Challenge brings together scholars from the Humanities and Social Sciences to develop research into culture, and society, in order to address issues of relevance to policy-makers. Topics include but are not limited to:
- HIV/AIDs - how to support global efforts to achieve universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support. This includes research on the human rights of those affected by HIV/AIDS.
- Migration and identity - how to advance the understanding of migration issues particularly in relation to negotiating the tensions between national and personal identity. This includes research on upholding the dignity and well-being of migrants and examining responses to population movements and economic and social change.
- Delivering justice - how to explore judicial and non-judicial approaches to addressing violations of legal and human rights, particularly in respect of societies or individuals after traumatic crime, conflict or authoritarian rule.
